Lucky Enough to Say Almost

Your kiss is stuck to my lips
your breath is etched on my skin.
I've never scrubbed so hard,
knowing acid couldn't wash away your sin.

Mom always told me to be careful who I trust
I always said that I knew, I'd been there before,
but I guess I didn't know,
because it's nothing like it was then.

Everything feels different,
everything I stood for,
all my life,
you tried ripped away in an instant.

Everything strength I thought I had
was shredded at your touch.

Be careful who you trust,
or you'll be another statistic who learned the hard way.
Another statistic,
and not some one lucky enough to say
that it was just
'almost'.
